Ron Barnett has rustled up considerable success as a Golden Corral franchisee.
Since taking over from a flailing franchisee in June of 2011, Barnett has built his franchise restaurant into a popular eatery in Claremont, Oklahoma. He went from employee to location owner, and through dedication and hard work has transformed an unprofitable restaurant into a wildly successful one, in part by successfully communicating with and delegating to his own employees.
“I worked for a franchisee that wanted to get rid of this store because of it losing profit,” Barnett said. “I took it over and have made a profit ever since.”
Barnett turned to Direct Capital, he said, when it came time to get franchise re-model financing. The restaurant heard from loyal customers who said they enjoyed eating there, but the look and feel of the place needed an overhaul.
“I was in dire need of a remodel because of the high volume of guest traffic. We were looking a little dated. We wanted to grow in our market and this is what our guests said would help,” Barnett said.
Barnett took advantage of Direct Capital’s easy-to-use franchise financing program, which can be used for any number of the following:
- Remodel or re-image your location
- Relocation Opportunities
- Acquire or build a new location
- Upgrade or replace equipment and technology
- Working Capital to cover advertising, labor, taxes and more
Listening to customers is high on Barnett’s list of smart things for franchises to do. For those in the restaurant business, he said his advice would be to, well, listen to advice.
“Make great decisions with all the tools and advise given. Keep an open mind, because the clients are changing fast,” he said.
As for Ron Barnett, he’s in for the long haul with Golden Corral.
“I LOVE this business and never could see myself doing anything else,” Barnett said.
