Giving Back to Local Charities

If you saw our Food Drive blog, then you know Direct Capital likes to give back and help local New Hampshire communities. We do this in a number of ways, but our ongoing commitment is Denim for Dollars.

Denim for Dollars is a program that Direct Capital’s team participates in week-to-week. The concept is simple: Our employees wear jeans on Friday and provide a donation to the selected charity for that week. Direct Capital matches all donations made.

Over the course of this year, we have helped dozens of charities, both local and outside of New Hampshire. We would like to recognize the October charities and shine a light on who they are and what they do to help their communities.

Direct Capital’s October Donations

  1. Nashua Children’s Home: Our October 3 and 10th donations went to Nashua Children’s Home. Founded in 1903, the Nashua Children’s Home offers care and stability to children between the ages of 6 and 18 who are unable to remain with their families. Their programs are dedicated to promoting emotional support and academic success for all of their residents, through their Residential Program and Educational Services.
  2. Hand to Heart Foundation: The winner of our Halloween contest decided on the Hand to Heart Foundation. Massage therapist Steve Gordon of Cornish, NH started Hand to Heart after visiting a cancer patient who finally got pain relief after a 20 minute session with him. Gordon now brings massage therapy to people suffering from advanced forms of cancer. It has helped hundreds of people find moments of peace throughout their difficult journey.
  3. New England Epilepsy Foundation: Our October 24 donation went to the New England Epilepsy Foundation. The Epilepsy Foundation leads the fight to find a cure and overcome challenges presented by epilepsy. The foundation offers programs and assistance to patients and their families, while also providing education for professional audiences.
  4. Veteran’s Foundation of New Hampshire: The final donation for the month of October went to the Veteran’s Foundation of New Hampshire. This organization raises funds for the general public in need, provides emergency aid and relief to veterans and military families, and serves all communities in the state of New Hampshire.
