Labor Day is just days away, and the long weekend is a perfect way to reflect on the work your employees do all year round. However, this shouldn’t be the only day you take some time to thank your employees throughout the year. In fact, according to a Gallup study, “the number-one reason most Americans leave their jobs is that they don’t feel appreciated and 65% of people surveyed said they got no recognition for good work last year.”
But fret not, and read on to find out some simple ways to thank your employees for their hard work.
GOOD PARKING SPOT
Offering a prime location parking spot to a different employee every month (or in Direct Capital’s case, every week!) offers a bit of recognition and gets the rest of the company to know this particular individual. This is definitely a step in the right direction to making employees feel appreciated.
In a digital world and age, handwritten anything has become an anomaly! One quick note from a superior or executive mentioning the employee’s success can go a long way, especially if there is something specific about what they appreciated within the note.
Everyone likes being recognized at a global scale. If they did something truly remarkable, or something that really helped the company, give them a quick 30-second shout out in a company meeting. It’s nothing overwhelming, but still provides the recognition that keeps employees around at a company.
JUST SAYING THANK YOU
And sometimes, just saying thank you is all that is needed. Not a quick “thanks,” that can be dismissed easily, but a “thank you so much for your work” that is genuine and meaningful.
